Royal Marines School of Music - Portsmouth
Project Details:
As part of the relocation of the Royal Marines School of Music, the former detention quarters on HMNB Portsmouth were refurbished and converted to provide rehearsal/performance rooms, ensemble room, individual practice rooms and associated clerical spaces. The individual practice rooms were located in the former detention quarters, offering a unique chance to provide acoustic design services on an historic, Grade II Listed building. Particular challenges involved design flanking conditions within an existing structure, such that individual practice rooms could be used, within the restrictions in-place as a result of the listed nature of the building.
